Le Mot d’Or 1995

One of the prize winners in the 1995 Le Mot d’Or (The Golden Word) was Daniel Melone, a Flemish speaking Belgian who has just started his MA in Economics at Kent. Daniel won the award as Lauréat de la coupe francophone des affaires by achieving the best result (Le meilleur Lauréat) in Flanders in die competition which distinguishes those who can prove their knowledge in business French. The examination, which was organised by l’association Actions pour promouvoir le français des affaires (APFA), was held in March 1995 in 22 countries with more than 30,000 students participating. As the winning participant from Flanders, Daniel represented Belgium at the Day of Business French held at the Ministry of Economics and Finance in Paris on 19 October 1995. During the seminar the importance of French as a business language was under discussion. Daniel is one of the growing number of multi-lingual European students who choose to come to Kent to take the one-year MA programme as one stage in their studies.
